Buffer elements

go back

Buffer elements such as Rubber buffers absorb kinetic energy from aggregates or assemblies. They help to reduce vibrations on the overall system. Ideally suited for machine and aggregate construction, special machines and in transport technology.

KIPP Rubber buffers - A wide selection in the webshop

KIPP Rubber buffers (also known as: rubber bobbins / stop buffers / buffer pads) are simple and inexpensive standard elements for elastic mounting. They are suitable for compressive and shear loads. However, the loads that rubber buffers can be subjected to under shear loading is much less than that by compressive loads.

Note: Tractive loads are possible but should be avoided on account of the peak amplitude at the contact edges and the notch sensitivity of the rubber.

Rubber buffers are mostly used as impact buffers or for vibration absorption. They are ideal as components for isolating vibrations that result from the use of e.g. compressors, motors or aggregates. Rubber buffers are also used for mounting mechanical components and as end dampers for moving elements. As mentioned above, rubber buffers are used for vibration isolation and for this reason come under the "Buffer Elements" group in the KIPP catalogue and webshop.

In detail, this means that rubber buffers take up the kinetic energy from assemblies and so reduce vibrations in an entire system or absorb the momentum of accelerated assemblies. When constructing machines, the energy released by vibrations must not be underestimated. In most cases, these vibrations arise from rotations and oscillations. Rubber buffers are therefore frequently used when shocks or recurring movements have to be damped with an end stop. A rubber buffer significantly reduces the vibration amplitude. Classic practical applications for rubber buffers are as "door stops", "door buffers" and machine feet. The positive side-effect as a sound-absorbing element rounds off the portfolio.

Application sectors for rubber buffers with steel and stainless steel cores

Classic applications for rubber buffers (electro zinc-plated) can be found on:

• Doors
• Gates
• Hatches
• Machines
• Plants
• Motors
• Drives
• and stops in machine construction.

Rubber buffers in various shapes and types

Generally, rubber buffers are manufactured from a combination of elastomer natural rubber and a steel or stainless steel metal core. There are versions with female and male threads to provide different installation options. Basically, the KIPP range is very diversified with regard to rubber buffers:

• Rubber buffers type A
• Rubber buffers type AT
• Rubber buffers type B
• Rubber buffers type C
• Rubber buffers type CT
• Rubber buffers type D
• Rubber buffers type DS with suction foot
• Rubber buffers type E
• Parabolic rubber buffers
• Conical rubber buffers
• Spherical rubber buffers

The many design variants (types) show the flexible application possibilities of the rubber buffers. The rubber buffers absorb the energy differently depending on the shape. Elements with a tapered rubber contour are ideal for high edge loads by radial deflection. Rubber buffers considerably reduce impacts. Limited spaces must also be considered when selecting the right buffer.

In addition to form and material, rubber buffers are also available with different thread sizes (M3/M4/M6/M10/M12/M16) and diameters. Most rubber buffers from HEINRICH KIPP WERK are available with the medium hardness grade Shore 55 (+/- 5) directly from stock. If rubber buffers with other Shore grades are required, our technical sales support would be happy to help you choose the correct buffer for your application. In the buffer elemnets section of the KIPP online shop you can see an overview of the entire range.

Note:

Rubber hardness: hard = Shore 70; medium = Shore 55; soft = Shore 45
Temperature range: -30 °C to +80 °C.
KIPP rubber buffers are RoHS conform
